About the Artist

I've been interested in art all my life, and have worked in pencil, pen and ink, acrylic, airbrush, and starting around 2001, the digital medium. I've painted portraits, illustrations, airbrushed clothing, and had a few comic gag panels published in a national magazine.
I work mostly in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS3.
I moved from a roomy studio in 1998 to a smaller apartment where there was little space to airbrush. My work schedule and evening classes often left little time for traditional painting with the acrylics I'm used to. I have not, however, given up on traditional mediums. I still work in ink, a favorite of mine. So feel free to check out the art, e-mail me a critique, or send me a link of your own.

How the Digital Art is created

My goal is to create unique, original art and the computer is just a tool like a normal brush or ink pen. My digital art begins as a hand-made sketch on paper or digitally that is refined and scanned into the computer where it is painted over with color by hand using a graphics tablet. Photos are only used as reference. Some of the art on this site is done in traditional art mediums.

Update: I invested in a Wacom Cintique drawing tablet awhile ago, a device where you can draw directly on the screen, just to boost my production and volume. I'm still processing some scanned pencil drawings, the spontenaity and accessability of sketching is still very desirable.
